We are looking for a driven and patient-focused Occupational Therapy Assistant to work with children birth through 18 years of age in a one-on-one setting in homes and child-care centers in Catawba, Alexander and surrounding counties. Responsibilities
- Provide treatment following OT created protocol to assist in improving a child's daily life skills and/or sensory deficits
- Teach clients new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components
- Provide alterations consistent with client needs and capabilities at a their home, daycare facility , or other location
- Train in use of adaptive equipment
- Guide and educate family members and caregivers
- Observe, note, and report on progress of long and short term treatment goals
- Basic data collection and document processes followed
- Meet with supervising OT to discuss progress and needs of clients
Skills
- Proven working experience as occupational therapy assistant
- Excellent knowledge of principles and practices of occupational therapy
- Ability to manage clients with different types of personalities and disorders
- Current knowledge of treatment practices per discipline and drive to continually learn and grow in the profession
- Professional behavior
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Valid license to practice as an occupational therapy assistant
