Escape to the stunning US Virgin Island of St. Croix this July! We are seeking Emergency Medicine Physician for this beautiful Caribbean destination.
The Emergency Medicine Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive and immediate medical care to patients in an emergency department setting. They diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and life-threatening conditions, working quickly to stabilize patients and determine the appropriate course of treatment.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patients, gather medical histories, and perform physical examinations to diagnose and treat a variety of emergency medical conditions
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, CT scans, and laboratory results to inform treatment decisions
- Provide emergency medical interventions and procedures, including administering medications, performing sutures, and managing trauma cases
- Consult and coordinate with other healthcare providers, such as specialists, nurses, and allied health professionals, to ensure continuity of care
- Document patient encounters, maintain accurate medical records, and comply with all relevant healthcare regulations and protocols
- Stay up-to-date with the latest medical research, treatment guidelines, and best practices in emergency medicine
- Participate in the training and supervision of medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals
Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
- Completion of an accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine
- Current license and certification as an Emergency Medicine Physician in the relevant state or jurisdiction
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
- Strong clinical decision-making skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients effectively, families, and the healthcare team
- Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate patient-centered care
Contribute to the continuous improvement of emergency department operations and patient outcomes
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience working in a Level II Trauma Center setting.
- Proficiency in pediatrics and treating pediatric emergencies.
- Knowledge of gastric lavage procedures.
- Previous experience in a medical office setting.
- Familiarity with botulinum toxin treatment applications.
- Competence in medical terminology usage.
- Ability to operate effectively in high-stress situations.
- Experience working with nursing home facilities for patient care coordination.
- Exposure to obstetrics/gynecology (Ob/Gyn) emergencies and surgical oncology cases.
