CLASS SUMMARY:
Maintains official records and assists in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the department. Depending on assignment, typical duties may include: providing customer service; handling animals; responding to calls for service; preparing standard reports; scheduling inspections; preparing and processing routine paperwork; preparing and issuing violations and permits; communicating with the public; maintaining records; and, performing other related duties.

Schedules inspections, assists code enforcement officer in processing and issuing violations pertaining to code compliance, zone, health and safety, etc.

Responsible for the City's permit process and permit staff development. Ensures the permit process remains efficient and effective and makes recommendations as necessary for improvements. Schedules, monitors and evaluates the work of subordinates as assigned.

Provides staff support to Chief Building Official for their various boards and commission meetings, including but not limited to assembling packets, meeting attendance after hours, conducting background research, preparing agendas, posting notices, maintaining records and providing general administrative duties for those boards and commissions.

Provides exceptional customer services to the public, contractors and other internal/external agencies. Work may involve providing information in person, and/or via phone, or email; mediating and resolving disputes and conflicts; and facilitating operations related to building plan submission and approvals.

Ensures the preparation, maintenance, scanning, editing, and/or updating of standard reports, forms, case files, applications, plans, and other paperwork; and enters/retrieves information into or from databases and other online management systems.

Facilitating operations related to building plan submission and approvals; work may involve providing information, assisting contractors and residents with filling out applications; and returning approved/non-approved plans.

Pull expired permits and notify contractors and homeowners; submits expired permit information to Code Enforcement Officers if the permit is not renewed withing allotted time frame.
8.
Advises and helps administer the online permit software.
9.
Performs other duties as assigned.
