PSW Group is searching for an Internal Auditor to support projects at the corporate office and manufacturing facilities. This position is the conduit for providing valuable insights by analyzing and interpreting complex financial data for accuracy and compliance with federal regulations. The Internal Auditor is responsible for identifying, mitigating, and maintaining internal audit controls while ensuring the accuracy of cost accounting practices and principles for the manufacturing facility.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking an enthusiastic Internal Auditor to join our PSW Group team, at our corporate office in Chicago, IL. This position will report to the CFO of PSW Group and will also interact with and support the Controller of Trialco. Other key responsibilities will be to:
- Work independently or as part of a team reporting to the CFO.
- Identify accounting and financial record-keeping and offer recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with departments to promote awareness of internal control requirements, facilitate process improvements, and drive a culture of accountability and compliance.
- Identify needs for developing and implementing cost accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist inventory cycle count process and reconcile any discrepancies.
- Perform special projects and additional duties as required.
- This position is responsible for the planning, execution and reporting of financial and operational audits, fraud investigations and special projects.
- Plans and executes audit assignments (financial and operational audits, fraud investigations) across domestic and international locations.
- Develops risk-based audit plans and presents the audit plans to executive management; Presents findings to executive management; Follows up with auditee(s) on open issues.
- Reviews and tests the control environment to ensure that it adequately and effectively ensures: the reliability of financial reporting; safeguarding of company assets; compliance with applicable laws and regulations; and the efficiency and effectiveness of company operations.
- Prepares high quality audit work papers to document findings and the results of audit work.
- Makes recommendations to enhance business processes and identifies opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.
- Perform comprehensive assessments of internal controls and financial processes to identify weaknesses, inefficiencies, and areas of non-compliance.
- Develop and execute risk-based audit plans ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES
- Understanding of internal control concepts and experience in applying them to plan, perform audits, and execute SOX projects.
- Hands-on experience assessing internal controls in accordance with auditing standards, COSO, risk assessment practices, technical aspects of US GAAP accounting and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, critical thinking, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, with limited guidance, and to work effectively on multiple projects.
- Self-starter with a sense of urgency to get things done and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to understand complex accounting and process issues and utilize educational tools.
- Strong cost accounting and financial analysis skills.
- Works independently or as part of a team, can work independently, maintain confidentiality of information and meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 10%.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of two years of audit or accounting experience with increasing responsibility; Big 4 or equivalent preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent preferred and encouraged; Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) a plus.
- Experience working with an audit function, either as an employee or consultant/adviser preferred.
- Business/operations/manufacturing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of ERP (AccPac Pro) preferred.
- Good communication skills, well organized and detail oriented.
- Must present a professional appearance and demeanor.
- High critical thinking skills, analytical and problem-solving skills to solve, conclude, analyze, evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy.

- Most of the time is spent in an office setting outside of the production plant or warehouse center. The environment will include, at times walking onto the plant production floor where there is weather and nonweather related hot or humid conditions, extreme cold, working near moving mechanical parts or equipment.
- The noise level in the work environment is quiet in the office, but can be loud when on the production floor, warehouse or loading areas.
