Position Summary:
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Lending Officer is responsible for the overall credit management and risk performance of Business Impact NW’S lending activities. The Chief Lending Officer manages all aspects of credit administration including: originations, credit underwriting, booking, funding and servicing for all loan products. The position is also responsible for implementing BIN’s loan policy and risk management for each loan and the loan portfolio. This position directly supervises all staff members of the Loan Department.
Full Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all lending advances BIN’s mission, and meets regulatory guidelines.
- Communicate and enforce loan policies and procedures.
- Help to maintain and update the Loan Department policies and procedures as needed to streamline delivery of loan products without compromising credit quality.
- Supervise the regular internal review of loan portfolios and the annual review of every individual loan file, for adequacy and consistency of risk ratings within the portfolios.
- Supervise an outside, third party loan portfolio performance audit at least annually.
- Supervise loan originations, underwriting, credit approval, loan file creation and maintenance.
- Collaborate and supervise closely Loan Officers in preparing loan applications for feasibility, structure, and compliance with policies and procedures and support business development and product development initiatives.
- Ensure strong credit analysis and compliance with all loan requirements, commitment and approval conditions.
- Originate, underwrite, and close loans as needed to support the Loan Department
- Ensure loans files are consistently prepared for each loan with proper loan and credit approval documentation, organization and audit trail for all closing steps.
- Manage delinquency, nonaccrual, loan exceptions, and troubled assets to minimize losses and maximize collateral recovery and the use of outside counsel for bankruptcy and work out activities.
- Lead actions against collateral and other remedies against defaulted loans, including management and liquidation of real estate owned.
- Training and speaking opportunities within organization and CDFI industry
- Ensure reports to funders are completed on time and in compliance funding guidelines
- Work with senior leadership of the organization to support the strategic goals
- Project management of SBA, USDA, and CDFI re-certifications
- Direct outreach and engagement efforts to ensure strong loan referral sources and to raise the organizational profile within the small business community
- Work with community stakeholders to ensure Business Impact NW maintains a strong reputation within the CDFI community
- Creation of annual work plan to meet budgetary Loan Department goals and objectives
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field, Master’s preferred
- SBA lending experience a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of experience supervising staff
- 7-10 years of experience in credit administration, underwriting, real estate loan underwriting, loan closing, problem asset management and portfolio management in a financial environment
- In-depth knowledge of processes and procedures in small business lending, real estate lending, commercial and industrial lending, and related loan products
- In-depth knowledge of best practices and use of analytical tools in credit analysis, risk management and compliance management.
- Ability to develop strategies to collect, restructure and liquidate problem loans
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities while managing the entire credit function in a strategic and organized manner
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Schedule & Location:
- 40 hours per week, 8:30am-5pm
- HQ in Seattle, WA
- Must reside in area we serve – Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho. Working mostly or semi-remotely in WA, OR, AK or ID can be accommodated
Compensation Package:
Salary of $100,000 - $132,964.00 annually Full Time, DOE
