Who We Are Looking For
Atomo Coffee is currently looking for a Food Processing Maintenance Technician who is self-motivated and driven to succeed! You are detail and systems oriented, progressive in your approach to your work, and embrace flexibility and a service minded attitude. This role will be a key member of the Operations team at our Roastery in Seattle, WA. This role will report directly to the Director of Engineering with a dotted line to the Director of Operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Play a key role in commissioning a first of its kind beanless coffee Roastery
- Trouble-shoot and repair production equipment, including roasters, grinders, dryers, and packaging equipment
- Develop schedules for routine/preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment and on building-critical systems (HVAC, sump pumps, etc), and conduct said maintenance
- Cross-train in equipment operation and collaborate with the production team to address facility and equipment issues
- Maintain clean and well organized work areas in accordance with industry best practice, food hygiene standards, and company GMPs
- Complete and file work orders to capture important data about machine performance and resource availability
- Maintain inventories of equipment parts and supplies by tracking stock and placing orders.
- Co-ordinate and supervise external vendors and partners for facility-related work
- Participate in the planning and execution of facility improvement and Continuous Improvement projects
Skills and Qualifications:
- Prior experience in manufacturing maintenance required, including machinery. Food, beverage, or CPG experience preferred.
- Possess technician-level knowledge and mechanical ability to operate, perform routine maintenance, and conduct trouble-shooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and natural gas fired equipment
- Basic computer skills required- knowledge and flexibility to make use of various digital tools to communicate, access information, and track work. Experience and comfort with the Microsoft Office suite and ERP or CMMS programs adds value
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations
- Forklift certification preferred but not required. Will train.
- HS Diploma, equivalent or higher required
- Must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions and training in English
- Committed to being a team player and understands the importance of flexibility in a start-up environment.
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization and ability to follow instructions.
- Hand/eye coordination and mechanical aptitude
- Self-motivated with often times minimal supervision.
- Work performance must demonstrate a sense of urgency
- Reliable and punctual with a commitment to consistent attendance.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Walk, kneel, bend, and crouch over equipment within the production area as well as loading zones
- Converse in a range of environments from loud production areas to office space.
The employee must be able to:
- Use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds often, using proper bending and lifting.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and far vision, depth perception, color determination, hand/eye coordination, and hand/eye/foot coordination and the ability to adjust focus.
- Other required abilities include reading, calculation, measuring, planning, interpreting, explaining, and compiling data.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however louder noise levels may be experienced when production is occurring or when maintenance work is being performed. Environmental conditions in the plant include exposure to elevated surfaces, vibration, moving objects, noise, slippery floors, electrical, heat, and mechanical hazards.
