We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Tax/Preparer/Client Manager to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for our clients, ensuring their needs are met and fostering long-term relationships. You will be responsible for performing preparation and review of personal and commercial tax returns, and working closely with the team in helping serve clients by collaborating and communicating with the ongoing details of the client’s profile.
What you’ll be doing:
- Strategically manage both new and existing clients, acting as the main point of contact for inquiries and issues.
- Prepare complex personal income tax returns (Form 1040), state income tax returns, tax projections, and quarterly estimated tax payments.
- Prepare trial balance, adjusting journal entries, commercial returns (Forms 1065, 1120, and 1120S), associated state income tax returns, tax projections, and quarterly estimated tax payments.
- Prepare estate and trust returns as needed.
- Review personal income tax returns (Form 1040) as well as C-Corp, S-Corp, Partnership, and Estate & Trust.
- Research and determine procedures for the preparation of atypical returns.
- Handle IRS notices effectively.
- Advise clients on periodic tax payments, information reporting, and other taxing authority requirements.
- Utilize internal systems and processes to track projects, make appropriate notes, and ensure returns are completed timely and within budget.
What you'll bring to the team:
- Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA designation, or 3-5 years’ experience that includes preparation of personal tax returns, bookkeeping, and higher-level accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and QuickBooks.
- Proficiency in Thompson Reuters products, i.e. Ultra Tax, preferred.
- Strong communication skills with emphasis on both oral and written communication when dealing with clients and other team members.
- Understanding of regulatory and privacy requirements for tax and accounting firms.
- Ability to work independently and take the initiative to solve problems and handle multiple client projects at once.
- Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail and multi-tasking capabilities.
- Sustained knowledge of tax laws and industry standards, and tracking trends and changes as necessary.
