General Description:
Provides a variety of legal and administrative support services to the Chief Disciplinary Counsel’s office. This position is responsible for the accurate management of a high volume of data, in a deadline-driven environment, and involves frequent contact and interaction with individuals both internal and external to the organization.
Primary Functions:
- Responsible for timely transmittal of grievance files for classification dismissals appealed to the Board of Disciplinary Appeals (BODA), and data entry of BODA appeal results in the case management database.
- Serves as backup Intake Legal Secretary, responsible for accurate and timely data entry of incoming grievances to ensure mandated deadlines are met in the processing of grievances.

Composes responses to general correspondence received in the department, and requests for copies of disciplinary judgments.

Assists with electronic meeting packet preparation and distribution for the meetings of the Commission for Lawyer Discipline.

Responsible for applying the State Bar of Texas’ file retention schedule as it relates to department files sent to the external storage facility. Responsible for maintaining the database inventory of all closed final judgment file inventory sent to off-site storage, file destruction schedules, and file retrieval.

Position Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college-level courses preferred. A minimum of three years of experience in administrative office work, preferably in a legal environment and working with confidential information. Working with deadline-driven processes is helpful. Requires exceptional interpersonal and business communication skills. Must possess superior accuracy, proofreading and organizational skills, have initiative, use sound judgment, have ability to manage multiple tasks with efficiency, and provide excellent customer service. Ability to problem-solve and complete tasks in a timely and independent manner. Requires technological competency, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Pro, Zoom, Teams, and Outlook Express. Experience using case management software preferred. Ability to speak and translate Spanish helpful. Requires valid driver’s license.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule of in office and remote work at the discretion of employer.
