Primary Function: The job of Compensation Specialist is done for the purpose/s of ensuring all employment-related processes for the hiring, transferring, and termination of professional and non-professional employees follow compensation guidelines.
1. Educational Level:
Minimum High School Diploma/GED; Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area.
2. Experience:
Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
3. Requirements:
Additional testing for selected candidates may be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
2.
Assists auditors for the purpose of providing supporting documentation and/or information on internal process that is required for audit.
3.
Assists with preparing reports (e.g. GA Dept. of Labor, surveys, CPI, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
4.
Compiles and processes payroll information related to work assignments (e.g. supplemental pay information for academic, athletic, art, and/or school nutrition, etc.) for the purpose of providing required documentation and/or processing information.
5.
Completes and processes requests for confirmation of employment (e.g. job experience verification, qualification for loan forgiveness, etc.) for the purpose of providing accurate tenure and salary information for current and/or previous employees.
6.
Determines salary placement of all new employees based on approved recommendation for the purpose of ensuring accurate coding and pay.
7.
Participates in unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. as required for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
8.
Processes payroll related data (e.g. employment paperwork; work-flow letters; withholding information; employment eligibility forms/I-9 through E-verify, etc.) for the purpose of updating information in the Business Plus system, and complying with established payroll practices/deadlines and government regulations.
9.
Provides all new employees with information (e.g. salary, benefits enrollment, etc.) for the purpose of explaining salary placement, verifying employment paperwork is complete and contract is signed if applicable.
10.
Researches discrepancies and questions (e.g. requests for clarification or additional information from employees and/or the Office of Payroll, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of records and employee payments.
11.
Reviews and maintains a variety of payroll information, files and records (e.g. payroll pre-lists for monthly, biweekly and substitute payroll, payroll action backup screens, job descriptions, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.
12.
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
