The Mathnasium Assistant Director / Manager partners with the location Manager and District Manager for the overall success of the learning center. At a high level this includes the educational success of each child and the financial success of the center.
Successful Assistant Center Directors (aka Assistant Managers) are passionate about math education, love working with kids of all ages, and have the desire to run a purpose driven business.
This job will/can require travel between several locations in greater Phoenix (Paradise Valley, North Central Phoenix, Arcadia areas) and also including Scottsdale. There will be only one work location per day, no traveling to multiple places the same day. Schedules are published two weeks in advance so the work locations are known ahead of time.
Responsibilities:
Managing Staff / Instructors
- Assist with hiring, training, and mentoring instructors
- Supervising staff of tutors
Working with Students
- Assessing students and communicating results
- Teaching children math
- Managing the curriculum needs of students
Sales
- Selling memberships in person, by email, and by phone
- Networking in the community
Qualifications and Requirements:
This individual should possess the following qualifications and requirements:
- This position will require a significant amount of each shift to also instruct (tutor) students.
- Each candidate will be required to pass our Math competency test, which ranges from fractions through algebra.
- A passion for math is ideal, and strong math skills are essential.
- Our business provides supplemental support to students after school between the hours of 3:00PM-7:00PM Monday through Thursday and 2PM-6PM on Sundays. Availability during these times is required. Starting time CAN be at 1pm to assist the Center Director with the management responsibilities and then as an instructor as needed.
- Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Google products (i.e. GMail, Google Docs, Google Sheets)
We are looking for candidates who LOVE math and would like to tutor and also develop and grow their management skills.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 23 – 27 per week
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Teaching/tutoring: 1 year (Preferred)
