Pawmetto Lifeline is a private not for profit organization. We are an animal advocacy organization offering educational and medical programs for pets with a focus on pet retention. Our goal is to ensure pets are never homeless by supporting pet owners in need of our services with the hopes that their pet never enters a shelter. Rescue work is 24/7. There are no 9-5 jobs. Pawmetto Lifeline located at 1275 Bower Parkway, Columbia, SC, is a non-profit rescue organization that strives towards the goal of a no-kill community and state through adoption, pet retention, rescue partnerships, and medical services. Necessary Skills:
· Walking, socializing, medicating, feeding and cleaning cats, dogs, kittens and puppies.
- Desire to learn and understand canine behavior. Willing to participate in training classes to assist in assessing dogs, introducing them to family members including other canines.
· Must have stamina to work for 8 hours.
· Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, bend, and reach; control large dogs on a leash; handle cats without fear; work with a variety of cleaning agents; work in an environment with changes in climate and weather extremes.
· Highly motivated with an interest in helping animals
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Other duties will include dishes and laundry as needed.
If applicant does not have prior animal handling experience, they may be required to participate in restraint training prior to being hired. The successful candidate must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Please realize this position would require you to work full days during the week and/or weekend and holidays. Our shifts vary depending on daily needs: 7:30am–4:30pm, 8:30am-5:30pm or 9:30am-6:30pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch.
All new hires are subject to a 90-day probation period.
