Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess the necessary skills to ensure the well-being of our furry guests. Kennel assistants are responsible for the day-to-day care of boarding and daycare dogs. This includes feeding, watering, cleaning, playing/walking, supervision, and monitoring the wellbeing of dogs. Kennel assistants must have sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina to lift and/or move heavy pets and objects, the dexterity and confidence to administer medications, and the ability to monitor pets for signs of distress or disease. It is essential that they have the ability and willingness to learn and the desire to provide gentle, compassionate care for all pets in our care. Kennel experience is not always a prerequisite for this position. In addition, the kennel staff also is responsible for the cleanliness of the facility.
Physical Expectations:
· Must be able to work standing or sitting for 8 or more hours
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day with possible assistance.
· Must be able to bend and kneel repeatedly.
· Must be able to see fine detail in a variety of situations
· Must have good hearing including ability to distinguish changes in pitch
· Must have reasonable degree of agility to move through tightly cramped areas in various situations
· Must have good range of motion in joints especially wrist, knees, elbows
· Must have good range of motion in your back for twisting etc.
· Must be able to work in potentially extreme environmental temperatures
· Must have acceptable sense of balance
· Must be able to work and reach on hands and knees
· Must be able to use a ladder and/or step stool
· Must possess excellent hand-eye coordination
· Must possess an acceptable degree of dexterity in hands and fingers
· Must have good vision, including peripheral vision, fine detail, distance, depth
perception, and ability to focus
· May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches, and contagious diseases.

· Provides compassionate care to animals in our care.
· Can conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner even when stressed
and/or focused on individual tasks.
· Receives animals to be boarded and or daycare, is responsible for their proper identification and for recording their respective locations.
· Releases animals to their owners as directed; ensures that every
animal released has its property.
· Has the ability to communicate with owners and make them feel comfortable with leaving their pet(s) in our care.
· Can follow a regular schedule for cleaning and sanitizing all kennels, runs, common areas and related areas; food/water bowls.
· Can feed each animal as prescribed by the owner.
· Understands the importance of prioritizing tasks and keeps oneself busy and productive during work shifts.
· Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can deal with them even when
they are stressed, ill or in pain
· Supervises daycare and closely watches dogs.
· Can maintain laundry for the facility.
· Maintains the grounds of the property including waste disposal, light
maintenance of landscape upkeep and general building maintenance.
· Can recognize and report any unusual condition or abnormal behavior.
· Can administer ones prescribed medications.
· Cleans equipment and facilities using chemicals and supplies; understands this importance of safety of use of chemicals in our facility.
· Maintains the cleanliness of the facility each day.
· Understands and carries out the daily, weekly, and monthly chore list to maintain the facility cleanliness, the equipment, and overall appearance of the facility.
· Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
· Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees.
· Assist other employees as needed. Avoid waiting for coworkers to ask for assistance.
· Participate in your performance appraisal, and as requested, in those of others.
· Participate in all staff and training meetings.
· Be willing and able to teach other staff members kennel skills.
· Maintain constant vigilance regarding open doorways that could allow pets to escape from the facility.
· Properly identify all belongings to boarding or daycare dogs.
· Record medication administration.
· Record in the Daily logbook.
· Capture appropriate photos of the dogs that can be posted on Facebook & Instagram.
· You agree not to distribute any dog(s) photos you capture to any media/social sites.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
