JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Security Specialist I ensures people, materials, and information remain safe and secure within the organization and supports implementation of security plans, procedures, and governing documents. Responsible for periodic reviews of security procedures and conduct preparations for onsite audits.

BA/BS in Criminal Justice or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to occupation.

Minimum of two (2) years related progressive experience

Experience in the security field or as first responder.

Successfully complete a Tier 2 background check and become a site badging official.

Attend training at the national Training Center to become a site inquiry official.

Excellent organizational skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/SCOPE OF WORK

Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by following established safe work practices and procedures; including following all safety rules, use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE), investigating and reporting identified safety concerns or situations.

Develop and support implementation of security plans, procedures, and governing documents.

Facilitate administrative security processes such as personnel security, incoming visitor coordination, badging activities, and processing personnel clearances for company employees.

Participate in planning to evaluate security requirements and recommend equipment, methods, procedures, and systems.

Complete investigations by gathering evidence, conducting interviews, collecting documents, coordinating with law enforcement personnel, and presenting evidence and hearings and trials, if required.

Cooperate with others in preparation and execution of emergency management drills and exercise scenario packages.

Maintain inventory supplies by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipate needed supplies, and place and expedite orders.

Participate in surveys and analyses to identify vulnerabilities.

Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by exercising discretion and confidentiality.

Ensure all training and qualifications are up to date, attend educational workshops, and participate in professional societies.

Interpret and follow a wide variety of guidelines, policies, laws, and established practices to accomplish complex tasks.

Exercise discretion and sound judgment in performing work and recommend improvements to operations and/or processes.

Manage projects and special assignments to deliver results on time and within budget.

Manage priorities, work schedules, control costs, and meet deadlines.

Plan, develop, and carry out strategic short-term programs essential to the mission.

Exchange information, resolve problems and coordinate tasks effectively through written or verbal communication.

Manage new situations and circumstances and provide recommendations or solutions to resolve problems.

Interface with individuals or groups from outside of the organization, senior management, as well as high-ranking officials from outside of the organization with tact and in a professional and effective manner.

Assist in planning and coordinating project activities to accomplish assigned tasks in a timely manner.
