Commercial Lines Producer:
Harbour Insurance is looking for a Commercial Lines sales and networking insurance agent to call on business owners and referral sources in the Naples, Estero, and Ft. Myers area. The position is an outside sales position and requires someone who had the DESIRE to plan and meet with business owners and trusted advisors who will place business with us or refer business to us.
This Commercial Lines Producer will focus on mid-sized commercial opportunities. These are accounts that generate $1k to $30k in revenue to the agency. The ideal customer is a business owner who has between 10-100 employees, a fleet of vehicles, and owns their office space. Other opportunities are professional classes of business-like accountants, dentists, restaurants owners, specific sub-contractors, etc. In addition, investment property owners who own buildings and strip malls.
In addition to calling on business owners you will be cultivating relationships who give you referrals. Our best referrals come from trusted advisors in the community. Commercial realtors, loan officers, accountants, wealth managers and other service professional advisors. The ability to call on and create unique relationships with these individuals is paramount.
It is a demanding position that will require the ability to face rejection. You also must have the ability to put together a sales process plan and follow thru with the plan. You should have great presentation skills and have a desire to meet new and interesting people every day.
You should possess strong interpersonal and team building skills. A positive attitude is a must.
Your typical day would be to attend 2 outside meetings with business owners and trusted advisors in your terrority. Present the merits and integrity of Harbour Insurance. Create and follow thru with your sales and marketing plan.
- Client Prospecting: Outside sales agents actively seek out potential clients by networking, cold calling, attending events, and using other methods to generate leads.
- Client Meetings: They meet with potential clients face-to-face or through virtual meetings to assess their insurance needs, explain available coverage options, and recommend suitable insurance policies.
- Sales Presentations: Outside agents are responsible for delivering compelling sales presentations that highlight the benefits and features of insurance products. They must effectively communicate complex insurance concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
- Relationship Building: Building and maintaining strong client relationships are crucial for long-term success. Outside sales agents often provide ongoing customer support and assistance with policy changes and claims.
- Territory Management: They may be assigned specific territories or regions to cover. Managing these territories efficiently, including planning travel routes and schedules, is an essential part of the job.
- Product Knowledge: Insurance agents need a deep understanding of the insurance products they sell, including their features, benefits, and pricing. They must stay updated on changes in insurance regulations and product offerings.
- Compliance: Agents must adhere to state and federal insurance regulations and licensing requirements. Compliance with ethical and legal standards is critical.
- Goal Achievement: Many outside sales agents work on commission, so meeting sales targets and achieving revenue goals is a significant part of their job.
- Education and Licensing: To work as an outside sales insurance agent, you typically need to obtain the necessary insurance licenses, which vary by state. Ongoing education and training may also be required to maintain these licenses.
- Product Diversification: Some outside sales agents may work for specific insurance carriers, offering only their company's products. Others may work as independent agents, representing multiple insurance companies and providing a wider range of options to clients.
- Time Management: Managing one's time effectively is crucial for outside sales agents, as they often need to balance client meetings, paperwork, travel, and other responsibilities.
Outside sales insurance agents play a vital role in the insurance industry by helping individuals and businesses protect their assets and mitigate financial risks. Success in this role often requires excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, persistence, and the ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
A Florida insurance license (2-20) is needed to conduct any business outside the office. If you are the right candidate, we will train you to get the license. The main attribute we are looking for is your ability to create referrals.
We will be posting this position in Mid- May, and we have a hire date of September 1st. If we find the right candidate before September 1st then we will consider hiring before then. The interview process will be extensive. There will be numerous interviews and practical sales tests during the process. The most qualified candidate will know how to apply for the job.
Compensation:
Year 1: $75k plus 12% commission on new business
Year 2: $75k plus 12% commission on new business and 10% on renewals
Year 3: Conversion to full commission 40% on new business and 30% on renewal.
