Physician Assistant - Experienced

As a Physician Assistant at AHI you will provide direct clinical care, have a high volume first assist in the OR on complex cases, and have first-call responsibility. You will be trained by the top surgeons in their field and as a result will be among a handful of the best trained hip orthopedic APPs in the nation. The American Hip Institute specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic hip, knee and shoulder preservation, outpatient robotic-arm assisted total hip and knee replacement, Birmingham hip resurfacing, and cutting-edge stem cell & regenerative medicine. In addition to these core procedures, you will be exposed to all aspects of sports medicine of the shoulder and knee as it relates to orthopedic sports medicine.
We consider applicants who have:
- Graduated from an accredited master’s-level physician assistant program
- Have 3-5 years experience as a Physician Assistant in practice. Orthopedic experience and surgical assist experience preferred, but not required.
- NCCPA certified
- Earned BLS and ACLS certification
Specific Responsibilities
PAs will be trained and become experts in the following competencies
- Suturing
- OR first assist
- Thorough clinical patient evaluation and work-up
- Pre-operative optimization & education
- Post-operative recovery, short and long-term * Surgical anatomy
- Surgical pathology
- Wound healing and management
