Job Summary: This unique role will serve as Technology Leader directly responsible for R&D and Technical Services and offer support to operations, business development, and sales teams. Primary responsibility will be the safe management of laboratories, development and oversight of departmental budgets, and innovation process. This role will also support the organization’s development strategy alongside executive management team by managing product development, troubleshooting technical issues, and enhancing our technical capabilities. The position will be a key stakeholder in the leadership of the functions of R&D and lab operations.
- Gain a deep technical understanding of our core chemistry and the impact of multiple input factors.
- Work with leadership team on project prioritization, and resourcing to drive the technical programs through development and commercialization.
- Propose and execute R&D projects to ensure a robust pipeline.
- Manage R&D budget to ensure functional labs, equipment, external testing, patent consultants, etc.
- Direct development projects by allocating resources and equipment.
- Serve as technical expert at customer for high value troubleshooting or product launches.
- Promote scientific learning across company and encourage patent filings with assistance of outside council.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to solve technical challenges and implement new products.
- Collaborate with peer managers in the Talent Management of lab personnel.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science.
- 10 years of R&D experience, with 5+ years industrial chemical or polymer experience.
- Analytical expertise and knowledge of equipment/methods
- Knowledge of the safe handling of hazardous materials
- Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills
- Outstanding project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple, complex projects
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven record of collaboration, networking, and teamwork
