Summary
This position is responsible for maintaining the grounds in the city rights-of-way and Lakesite Park. Other duties include assisting the maintenance and utility official in installing, inspecting and checking the preventive maintenance and safety of street signs and street lights.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Cuts lawn using zero turn, walk behind, and grounds master mowers
- Maintains garden/flower beds around all city rights-of-way, including planting, weeding, mulching, repairing and building new beds
- Cleans and inspects equipment for mechanical problems and informs supervisor of problems
- Operates small heavy equipment such as tractor, skid steer, mini excavator, or other construction equipment when working on projects
- Inspects drainage facilities after heavy rains/flooding and removes mud, silt, and any other debris
- Inspects street signs and lights, performs necessary maintenance and replaces street signs and lights
- Inspects Park facilities and cleans facilities (including restrooms)
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
21 Years old or older
Landscaping experience is preferred
Valid driver’s license
Ability to safely operate and maintain equipment, tools, and materials
Ability to lift 100 lbs and push, pull, or drag 150 lbs or more
Ability to bend, crouch, crawl, and stand for extended periods of time
Willingness to work during all weather conditions
Willingness to assist in park maintenance and facilities cleaning
Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and pre-employment physical
