Job Title: IT Database Administrator - Entry (Olympia)
Location: Thurston County – Olympia, Washington, this position is full-time and Hybrid/Remote Optional

Salary: $5,319.00 - $7,154.00 Monthly
- This does not include a 3% general salary increase effective 7/1.
The Opportunity:
As a Data management team member, you will be a critical part of the DCYF Data Management team that is responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining robust, scalable solutions to load, store, analyze and manipulate data and maximizing the value of DCYF data assets. This position assists implementing the designs of database infrastructure and maintains mission-critical databases and data systems in support of the DCYF mission to, “Protect children and strengthen families so they flourish.”
Some of what you will get to do:-
Ensure and monitor the availability, integrity, and quality of DCYF databases and related standards, processes, and procedures.

Manage and maintain database health, recoverability, and performance for DCYF's multi-SQL server database environment.

Participate in performing database backup strategies, disaster recovery plans and procedures.

Participate in off-hours server patching.

Ensure regular, controlled deployment of updates to existing database driven applications across various platforms.

Assist with Troubleshooting and resolving complex database interface and data related issues.

Perform database utility functions.

Assist in implementation of database security plans, ensuring compliance with security and privacy requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Two years of progressively more complex problem-solving experience as a Database Administrator of large-scale databases with mission-critical business functions.
OR
Associates of Arts Degree or higher in computer science, data management, information systems, or related field
AND one year of complex problem-solving experience as a Database Administrator of large-scale databases with mission-critical business functions.
OR
Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, data management, information systems, or related field.
Additional Required Qualifications:-
Working knowledge of relational database administration and development techniques for Microsoft SQL Server including installation, profiling, monitoring, and optimization.

Working knowledge of SQL server configuration including clustering, high availability, logging, encryption settings, backup and recovery strategies.

Experience working in a highly regulated environment where IT assets and data are subject to a broad range of State and federal information security requirements and regulations.
In addition to the requirements above, our ideal candidate will possess work experience in some or all of the following:-
Backup and recovery procedures.

Microsoft operating systems and database platforms.

Microsoft's implementation of SQL, specifically Transact-SQL.

Database management concepts, principles, and methods including database logical and physical design, normalization, storage capacity management.

Data warehousing principles and best practices.
-
Cloud-based data repositories, including configuration and security settings.

Data administration and data standardization policies and standards.
