Job Description:
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Court Transcriptionist to join our team. As a Court Transcriptionist, you will play a crucial role in accurately transcribing court proceedings, hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings into written documents. This role requires exceptional typing skills, knowledge of legal terminology, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in legal transcripts.
Responsibilities:
- Attend court proceedings, hearings, and depositions to accurately transcribe spoken testimony, discussions, and rulings into written transcripts.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of transcripts by reviewing and editing as necessary.
- Follow established formatting and documentation guidelines to produce high-quality legal transcripts.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with legal and ethical standards, including privacy regulations and confidentiality agreements.
- Collaborate with legal professionals, court staff, and other stakeholders to clarify testimony, terms, or technical details as needed.
- Use transcription software and equipment effectively to enhance productivity and accuracy.
- Meet deadlines and turnaround times for transcription assignments while managing workload efficiently.
- Proofread and finalize transcripts for distribution to attorneys, judges, and other authorized parties.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Court Transcriptionist or similar role in a legal setting.
- Excellent typing skills and proficiency in using transcription software and word processing software.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and documentation standards.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in transcribing spoken testimony and legal proceedings.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced courtroom environment.
- High level of professionalism and integrity, with a commitment to confidentiality.
- Certification or training in court transcription or legal secretarial studies (preferred).
