Job description
The Director of Nursing Services’ primary responsibility is to ensure the provision of quality nursing care to the residents of the facility in accordance with Federal, State and Local standards and regulations.
Essential Duties

Responsible for overseeing the coordination and execution of facility nursing services, monitor, measure, and evaluate the outcomes of nursing care.

The Director of Nursing oversees all nursing and related staff; provides scheduled and unscheduled performance reviews and discipline as necessary to staff.

The Director of Nursing should enforce company policies and procedures as they relate to patient care. Ensure adequate nursing coverage; ensure nursing staff provides appropriate, timely and pertinent documentation of patient care.

The Director of Nursing should participate actively in the facility’s quality assurance process. He/she should lead and participate in the quality improvement programs including QA committee.

The Director of Nursing ensures that nursing practice in the facility reflects the following nursing skills

Provide ongoing training to nursing staff to ensure provision of quality care and assessments.

Ensures the needs of current and potential residents are met.

The Director of Nursing should develop and implement an organized nursing system for the delivery of care and services to ensure the coordination of nursing services with other facility departments.

Ensure nursing related expenses and staff scheduling adhere to facility budgets.

Prepare for and oversee federal and state inspections, including execution of plan of corrections when necessary
Basic Qualification

Education/Training: The desired minimum requirements to effectively perform position responsibilities include graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an RN degree or higher. Current CPR card required.

Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent management skills or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Five years of responsible nursing experience, preferably in a long-term care facility with three years in a management position.
