WellStone is North Alabama’s most comprehensive behavioral healthcare provider serving over 13,000 persons a year throughout Northern Alabama, with offices in Huntsville and Cullman. We are a non-profit community organization that offers a wide range of services for every phase of life, from children to older adults.
This position assists clients in enrolling for insurance coverage and educate on how to utilize their insurance at health centers, and use SOAR processes to help clients apply for disability coverage.
What we are looking for
- High School Diploma / GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Experience in support of mental health / substance abuse services is a plus
- Must complete SOAR training within 2 months of hire
- Excellent oral / written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others
- Knowledge of electronic health record applications, online navigation of benefit resources, federal and state regulatory requirements, and quality initiatives
- Full time Monday through Friday
What you will be doing
- Conduct "in reach" activities with currently uninsured health center clients and "outreach" to non-health center persons in the health center's service area
- Provide education to health center staff about insurance options so they can assist in educating their clients
- Provide educational materials about insurance options to the health departments, hospitals, urgent cares, physician's offices and human services agencies and coordinate outreach efforts with them
- Deliver presentations to community groups Represent the health center at health fairs to provide education on health insurance coverage and how to utilize their coverage to be healthier
- Assist persons with enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace, Alabama Medicaid, and Allkids.
- Complete all required trainings, participate in all meetings assigned, complete all required reporting.
- Provide referrals to any applicable office of health insurance consumer assistance or ombudsman established under Section 2793 of the PHS Act to address consumer grievances, complaints or questions about their health plan coverage
- Other duties as assigned
