Controller
We are a vertically integrated real estate company seeking a highly motivated, hands-on individual to join our successful team. The Controller will be head of the accounting group, a fast-paced, friendly environment. The individual will report directly to the President.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations and analyses, reporting, financial statement preparation, etc
- Managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial data and transactions required for the accurate and timely accounting of business results
- Ensure the timely and accurate processing of transactions within industry and company requirements
- Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting team members
- Assisting senior leadership in the oversight and management of the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting process
- Providing leadership with insightful and timely information which is vital to the decision-making process.
- Developing and monitoring key business performance metrics/indicators
- Assessing current accounting operations, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing new processes and procedures
- Evaluating accounting and internal control systems and applications and their effectiveness
- Coordinating the development and implementation of timely and insightful monthly management reporting, including analyzing financial results and tracking budget versus actual results
- Overseeing industry and regulatory reporting requirements
- Working with tax firms to assist in tax planning and compliance
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
CPA and/or CMA required
Knowlendge of LIHTC requirements
Construction and Development Accounting experience is a plus Yardi Voyager expertise Proficiency in Excel Strong communication & analytical skills
Proactive forward-looking thinker Self-starter, detail-oriented individual with excellent time management and organization skills Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and juggle necessary deadlines Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, Masters is a plus
