As a Material Handler, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse facility. Your primary responsibilities will include unloading delivery trucks, managing inventory, preparing materials for fabrication, maintaining remnant stock, providing excellent customer service, ensuring warehouse cleanliness, adhering to safety protocols, and assisting with various tasks as assigned. The Material Handler is a regular full- time non- exempt position reporting directly to the Warehouse Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Efficiently remove products from delivery trucks and transfer them to the appropriate storage locations within the warehouse.
- Tag inventory stock with ICN (Inventory Control Numbers) and accurately assign locations to ensure easy retrieval and organization.
- Prepare assigned slabs for fabrication by loading them onto A-frames or similar equipment, ensuring they are secure and ready for processing.
- Monitor and maintain remnant stock levels, bringing in or removing remnants as necessary to meet operational needs. Keep the remnant area orderly and organized.
- Assist with stone viewings as required and update customer database with relevant information.
- Keep the warehouse area swept and orderly at all times to maintain a clean and safe working environment for staff and visitors.
- Adhere strictly to safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries. Maintain the warehouse and remnant yard to meet safety standards and ensure they are organized and hazard-free.
- Complete any other tasks or assignments delegated by management as required to support the efficient operation of the warehouse facility.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in warehouse operations or a similar role preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and willingness to adhere to them at all times.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory management.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks as needed.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management from time to time to support the efficient operation of the warehouse.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others. Regularly inspect the warehouse and remnant yard to identify and address any potential safety hazards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, potentially up to 50 pounds.
- Stamina to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Flexibility to bend, stoop, reach, and climb as required.
- Comfort working in various weather conditions, as some tasks may take place outdoors.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling inventory and equipment.
- Physical fitness and agility to navigate the warehouse environment safely.
