Our client is on the leading edge of semiconductor manufacturing technology, and they are looking to add a Facilities & Safety Engineer to their team. This person will oversee the operation, maintenance, and modification of all facility equipment, systems, and controls, including building systems, cleanroom controls, electrical, life safety, mechanical, structural, and waste treatment infrastructure. This role manages contractors, facility projects, and continuous improvement of the facility and cleanroom environment.
Essential Functions
- Manage facility support agreements and contractor safety
- Create and manage the facilities budget
- Ensure minimal disruption to operations, maintaining high levels of comfort and safety
- Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule
- Serve as the main contact for facility engineering issues
- Complete maintenance and repairs within budget and with minimal downtime
- Handle work order requests for building and equipment maintenance
- Oversee property contracts for various services (security, HVAC, plumbing, etc.)
- Provide cost estimates for project approvals
- Oversee construction, remodeling, and repair projects from planning to inspection
- Investigate equipment failures and develop solutions
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of facility and cleanroom systems
- Manage general safety, industrial hygiene, and workplace preparedness
- Handle chemical storage, waste management, and disposal
- Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, insurance, and OSHA regulations
- Participate in the Emergency Response Team and on-call rotation
- Report facility-related KPIs to Senior Management
- Maintain relationship with landlord and ensure tenant support
- Administer safety and cleanroom protocols training
- Assist in negotiating facility service agreements and contracts
- Lead the facilities department
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on experience in a semiconductor environment with cleanroom operation experience
Experience:
- Certification in building, cleanroom, and facility life safety control systems; certification in air and water balancing
- Extensive hands-on experience with facility and cleanroom preventive maintenance and repairs in a semiconductor or chemical manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project)
- Skills in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general R&M for smaller projects
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance with environmental and safety laws
- Strong initiative and customer service orientation
- Knowledge of risk, governance, and compliance
- Sound knowledge of health and safety principles
