Under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator II, the Associate Tax Auditor (ATA) independently performs complex professional and technical accounting and audit work in the establishment, maintenance, research, and analysis of accounts and financial records for the Revenue Section to ensure correct financial reporting of California Department of Tax and Fee Administration's (CDTFA) business taxes and fees to the State Controller's Office (SCO). This requires an understanding of the entire accounting process and accounting system. Constant contacts are made with field offices, the Budget Section, Cashiers Section, the State Controller's Office, the State Treasurer's Office, the California State Auditor, and various State Departments. The ATA has a detailed understanding of the Centralized Revenue Opportunity System (CROS) system and serves as the Revenue Section liaison, subject matter expert for new legislation implementation along with various ongoing CROS auditing/testing; communicates heavily with program staff, CROS liaison, contractors, etc. to address and resolve CROS system issues, so transactions are recorded in compliance with tax policy and financial reporting standards.
