Position Summary: Responsible for completing all facility maintenance needs and activities to ensure a safe and effective environment for all HETRA participants, volunteers, staff & horses. This position is also responsible for the training and supervision of all barn maintenance volunteers.
Principal Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance & Repairs:
- Water and work facility arena to maintain adequate footing for equine and human personnel.
- Responsible for daily stall cleaning (32 stalls) and the oversight of barn maintenance volunteers.
- Responsible for weekly cleaning of turnout pens.
- Completes grounds maintenance such as mowing, spraying and fence work.
- Cleans and maintains facility equipment.
- Able to identify maintenance concerns and report to the Facility Manager.
- Other daily maintenance tasks scheduled by the Facility Manager.
Personnel Oversight and Communication:
- Oversees daily barn maintenance volunteers.
- Assists with training on call and part time Facility Staff
- Assists Facility Manager with the coordination of large volunteer groups.
- Attends weekly Facility team meetings and weekly staff meetings.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
- Basic equipment knowledge (tractor, skid loader, mower, mini truck, etc.) - Required
- Intermediate horse handling skills - Required
- Basic knowledge of power and hand tools - Required
- Able to obtain “Designated Leader” status within 3 months of employment - Required
- Strong attention to detail and safety - Required
- Excellent ability to work alone and with a team - Required
- Construction experience (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, fencing) - Preferred
- Leadership skills - Preferred
Hours:
This is a full time position with the ability to be “on call” as needed. Anticipated work hours would be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Tuesday through Saturday would be the preferred days worked but this could be neogitable.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
