STAFF DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR/ NURSE MENTOR

The incumbent will perform duties within the scope of practice as defined by the NC Nurse Practice Act. The function of a Registered Nurse serving as Staff Development Coordinator/Nurse Mentor is independent and includes but is not limited to the following:
- Various administrative tasks.
- Initial and ongoing staff development.
- Implementation of the New Employee Orientation Program specific to healthcare.
- Plans, develops, and coordinates and/or provides mandatory and elective in-service education and functions as a resource person for nursing staff members seeking continuing education.
- Assigns, delegates, supervises, and evaluates licensed nursing professionals, as well as others involved in the household team.
- Collaborates and assists all members of the interdisciplinary team to achieve the resident’s optimum level of functioning.
Associate Degree in Nursing with an unencumbered NC or multistate RN license. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff. Must have demonstrated leadership qualities, supervisory skills, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of federal and state regulations governing clinical care and nursing practice. Prefer previous experience in long-term care.
