OVERVIEW
Unified Industries Incorporated (UII) is looking for a detail-oriented and driven Business Development and Contracts person to work with corporate leadership to develop, implement, and maintain the company growth strategy by identifying profitable business opportunities and developing long-term business growth strategies. The Business Development/Contracts position is a leadership role responsible for creating, expanding, and managing strategic business relationships with key customers, partners, and vendors.
JOB SUMMARY
The Business Development/Contracts Manager is responsible for identifying and leading Corporate-priority new business development and capture activities in accordance with a mature business development process. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in managing complex capture projects throughout the entire Federal Acquisition lifecycle from inception to award. Candidate will identify, qualify and secure business opportunities by cultivating and maintaining business relationships with current and potential customers to develop targeted sales strategies that convey a customized approach to all business pursuits. overseeing the development of new business opportunities and growth initiatives, as well as identifying/capitalizing on potential new markets.
FUNCTIONAL DUTIES
- Must be persuasive with strong business acumen, adept at negotiating sound business deals, and demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Lead and mentor business development team, set clear team goals and performance metrics, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the team
- Direct marketing efforts and research, suggesting strategies to expand market research
- Initiate and manage negotiations with potential partners and clients and develop partnership agreements beneficial and sustainable for the company
- Prepare presentations and attend client meetings, trade shows, conferences, etc.
- Identify and qualify new and emerging opportunities and prepare strategies
- Break down Request for Proposal (RFP) Statement of Work (SOW) requirements and evaluate those requirements against our capabilities and build partnerships with other companies to bridge gaps in capabilities when necessary to facilitate go/no go decision making within the organization.
- Interface with US Government and non-Government commercial organizations customers
- Lead proposal development efforts; have a clear understanding of the proposal requirements to include content and format required; an understanding of the FAR regulations included withing the Request for Proposal; assign proposal tasks to the proposal writing team
- Liaison with Contracting Officers; resolve issues, identify needs and translate goals
- Hold regular status meetings and effectively communicates project information to COO
- Build solid relationships with customers, vendors/distributors, and sales/marketing teams
- Research emerging trends, identify new markets and develop strategies for new offerings
- Develop long range planning strategies for growing market share
- Contribute directly to win strategy development, identification, qualification, shaping and proposal development activities leading to the successful capture of new business
- Close opportunities by identifying key customer requirements, developing project plans, communicating expectations and closing deals
- Deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations
- Communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Technical, Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, with a proven track record in a leadership role
- Must have experience working in federal government contracting industry
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), SharePoint, CRM
- Familiar with Seaport, SAM.gov
- Self-motivated individual who can work independently or as a team
- Confidentiality and company loyalty are a must
- Able to interface with VIP’s, personnel, international executives, and others
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and to adapt to change quickly
- Detail oriented with strong follow through and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team environment or independently
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Good writing, technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Clearance preferred
