We are looking for a highly motivated surgical/dental assistant to add to our growing oral surgery practice.
We are a fast paced, busy oral surgery practice with multiple doctors and 2 locations. Dental assistants should be well-organized with great attention to detail, self-motivated and enthusiastic. Oral surgery and/or dental experience is preferred but work ethic, attitude and punctuality are most important. You should be able to follow instructions and respect dental office regulations. We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care and able to help the surgeon in the procedure and make sure the surgeries go smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgical procedure
- Select and set up surgical trays, equipment and materials needed
- Sterilize instruments according to regulations
- Assist the surgeon in surgeries such as extractions, bone graft/ bone harvest procedures, implant procedures and biopsies
- Chart prep
- Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
- Keep the surgery room clean and well-stocked
- Maintain accurate patient records
Skills
- Proven experience as dental assistant
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
- Understanding of health & safety regulations
- Good computer skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Attention to detail
- Well-organized and reliable
- High school diploma; graduating from dental assistant school is preferred
- Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. DAANCE)
