As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Angelite PCH Center, LLC, you will play a critical role in enhancing the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). This position involves direct care and support to residents, helping them with daily living activities, and implementing individual support plans tailored to each resident’s needs.
Shifts and Schedule:
8 HOUR SHIFT WEEKDAYS — Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care and Support:
- Assist residents with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide support with meals, ensuring dietary guidelines are followed.
- Ensure residents’ safety and well-being at all times.
- Implementation of Support Plans:
- Implement individual support plans designed to meet the developmental goals and needs of each resident.
- Monitor and document residents’ progress towards their goals.
- Communicate effectively with management and co-workers to provide consistent care.
- Health and Medication Management:
- Assist in administering medications as prescribed and document all medications dispensed.
- Monitor health concerns and report any significant changes to the supervising nurse or manager.
- Social and Recreational Activities:
- Support residents in social, educational, and recreational activities both within and outside the group home.
- Encourage community integration and social interaction.
- Maintenance of Living Environment:
- Ensure the living environment is clean, safe, and feels like home for residents.
- Assist with housekeeping tasks as needed.
- Communication and Documentation:
- Maintain clear and accurate records of daily activities and behavioral incidents.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to ensure cohesive and informed care delivery.
- Crisis Management:
- Respond to emergency situations or crises with calm and effectiveness.
- Apply de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention skills as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a caregiving role preferred, particularly with populations with disabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts as needed.
- Physically capable of performing the duties required, including lifting and transferring residents.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred (training provided if necessary).
