Overview:
Performs EKGs and general clerical duties.
Responsibilities:
- Obtains graph of patient’s heart action by positioning electrodes and manipulating proper dials.

Wheels portable EKG machine to patient’s bedside to record as required.

Informs physician if graph shows any gross abnormality.

Enters all required information into ledger on a daily basis.

Cuts and mounts EKGs on a special form.

Types reports instead of cutting and mounting.

Prepares EKGs for interpretation by obtaining previous records of patient for comparison.

Files typewritten reports alphabetically.

May be asked to assist in placing the EKG’s on patient’s chart.

Maintains electrodes and machines on a daily basis.

Familiar with procedures necessary to perform EKGs on infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
Education:

High Scholl Diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of an approved EKG course.
Experience:
-
Minimum six (6) months of EKG experience; preferably in a hospital setting.
Knowledge and Skills:

Good communication skills

Ability to fully utilize BHMS’s electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
Physical Requirements:
-
Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
