Job Summary
Driver operates a commercial roll-off truck. Driver is responsible for providing and servicing containers filled with refuse or recycle materials. Drivers will transport the material to disposal sites, transfer or recycle facilities from customer locations in roll-off containers provided by Millennium Recycling. Drivers will navigate driveways, alleyways, lots, high traffic roadways and may operate in tight overhead environments while on roll-off routes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
- Operates vehicle in Safe manner in accordance with OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, municipal, state and federal
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and documents checks on standard VCR (Vehicle Condition Report)
- Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings and meetings required by Trucking Manager and Corporate Safety Team
- Works closely with Trucking Manager, Dispatcher and Sales Representative to improve route efficiencies and identify best route practices
- Notifies Trucking Manager immediately of any incidents, accidents, injuries, property damage, or unsafe conditions/situations
- Notifies Dispatch immediately of service issues including blocked containers, closed lots, street, alleyways or potential safety hazards.
- Communicates customer requests to Trucking Manager or Dispatch
- Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair to Trucking Manager
- Completes and submits paperwork via Trux application on the company provided phone or tablet, completes paper copy as well
- Positions and /or returns container on the customer's property in a manner that ensures lids and or doors are properly replaced and do not block driveway entrances
- Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation
- Performs all duties as scheduled by Site Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Qualifications
Education: Read and write in English. Able to communicate verbally with customers in appropriate manner. Ability to read and understand maps and navigation of NE Illinois and NW Indiana
Experience: 4 years of previous experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL and 2 years operating a roll-off truck.
Other Requirements: Legally eligible to work in the United States, successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check which will include previous employment check, criminal history and motor vehicle record.

- Will be exposed to a physical and outdoor environment: dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes.
- Company uniforms, PPE and gloves will be provided for daily route usage.
