Maize Cocina & Cocktails, new Mexican fusion restaurant opening in the heart of Westfield, NJ is Hiring! We are looking for Bartenders to complete our opening team!
As bartender for Maize Cocina & Cocktails, you will work closely with the Head Bartender and the FOH team on all aspects of the bar operations, including bar counter service. Your communication skills, attention to details and proactivity will be the keys to run the bar operations successfully.
The bartender will be assisting in multiple areas of the bar beverage program, including execution of the spirit and craft cocktails program, wine and soft service, bar counter service and cash handling.
While on shift, you will ensure optimum performance while maintaining the highest level of service and cleanliness across the bar area.
Bartender Duties & Responsibilities:
- Greet guests in a friendly and timely manner.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Sets up the bar according to layout standards.
- Assists in preparing juices, garnishes and syrups needed at the bar.
- Stocks refrigeration units with beer, wine, juice, and water products.
- Presents and explains menus to guests at the bar.
- Provides food and beverage recommendations to bar patrons.
- Correctly mixes and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for patrons at the bar and dining room.
- Maintains bar cleanliness and organization.
- Perform money transactions, return accurate change, and close checks in Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Checks identification of all guests who appear under the age of 30.
- Monitors guest sobriety.
- Actively participates in all fronts of house training programs and consistently meets training expectations.
Bartender Requirements and Qualifications:

- Ability to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of the restaurant’s trading area.
- 3 years of bartending experience required.
- Knowledge of service and food and beverage environment.
- Ability to work positively in a fast-paced environment.
- History of effective collaboration and communication in working with managers, service, and culinary staff.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with managing inventory and cost control.
- Work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours).
- Ability to lift up to 30lb.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.13 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
