MedOne is an AZ based home medical provider specializing in making life easier for everyone we serve. Our primary services are focused on providing equipment and supplies to medically complex individuals and their caregivers. We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant who will support our team and roll up their sleeves to do whatever it takes to be the best at whatever we do.
With direction from executive and senior-level leadership, this staff accountant position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating MedOne’s accounting functions, including the management of accounting transactions within the General Ledger/Sub-ledgers, analysis and consolidation of financial data, and preparation of financial reporting and statements.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee and ensure accuracy of financial data as it relates to Accounts Payable
- Ensure compliance with rules, regulations and accounting policies as it relates to Inventory
- Assist in ensuring accuracy within the Accounts Receivable subledger, processing credit cards, balancing cash applied to subledger against bank records, etc.
- Reconcile bank and other third-party accounts within accounting software
- Accurately post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger
- Conduct month-end and year-end close procedures
- Analyze transactions with internal and external stakeholders, including preparing any documentation for auditors or bank
- Preparation activities for federal, state, local, and special (if applicable) tax returns
- Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government legislation and requirements
- Prepare monthly or year-end financial reports and statements
- Report to the Controller and work to improve financial processes
Education Level:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
Work Experience or Related Experience:
- Proven working experience as an Accountant, Staff Accountant, or similarly equivalent roles
- Two years or more recent relevant accounting or financial experience is preferred
- Experience in the healthcare, insurance, or relevant medical fields supporting a diverse patient population and multiple payors is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP proficiency
- Proven knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, & regulations
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills
- QuickBooks or other similar accounting software experience required
- Good communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills are required.
- Strong team player with the ability to influence, collaborate, and partner with cross-functional teams supporting multifaceted projects, initiatives, and patient care
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and be able to succeed in a fast-paced work environment
- SQL and Business Intelligence development experience is preferred
Work Environment, Surroundings, and Demands:
- Work is performed onsite in an office suite environment.
- The office environment requires the use of standard office equipment (i.e., computers, printers, copiers, telephones)
- Sitting in a desk setting for prolonged periods while using standard office equipment
