Job Summary
The Safety Manager will work as assigned to help foster a culture of progressive environmental health and operational safety with all BAPKO Metals employees and subcontractors. Regularly the Safety Manager will be training themselves and others in best practices, perform worksite, facility and vehicle audits, injury and accident investigations, create JSA’s, identify and evaluate hazards, review/report on process procedure, and represent the Safety department internally and externally. Responsible for all things supporting leadership, and compliance, implement safety directives, corrective actions, improve safety performance, and strive to assure safety policies and procedures are aligned with governmental regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and employee safety programs and determine their adequacy including review of short and long term strategic safety planning goals.
- Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices
- Facilitate a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture.
- Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and proper use of safety equipment
- Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure regulation compliance.
- Issue corrective actions and see to their compliance/closure.
- Assist in the Investigation of accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities
- Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes
- Work within company policy as outlined in the Employee Handbook and in concert with the BAPKO Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules
- All other duties as assigned by the Corporate Director of EHS.
Technical Skills – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, phone and PC.
Communication Skills - Bilingual a preferred but not required.
Work Environment - This job operates in a professional environment including production facility and in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. The job will require 50-75% daily driving location to location and exposure to weather conditions.
Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Lifting up to 50 lbs. or more may be required.
Desired Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or significant construction or environmental industry experience and/or training.
- 2-3 years of management experience.
- Current CSP, CHST, OSHA coursework and/or other safety study.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
