Job Summary:
Under the direction of the school Principal, the Elementary Special Education Director serves as a member of YHALE’s leadership team. This role provides leadership, management, supervision, evaluation, coordination, and direction of all special education programs and services for students with disabilities in grades K-6. Responsibilities include strategic professional development, creating and managing budgets, monitoring compliance to meet state and federal mandates, and supporting equitable evidence-based practices and programming for academic growth and achievement, social-emotional learning, and behavior management within a multi-tiered system of supports framework.
General Duties/Responsibilities:

· Monitor the effectiveness of special education programming and provide guidance to school leadership on necessary programmatic changes and expectations to ensure increased student achievement and social-emotional learning for students receiving special education.
· Communicate effectively with staff, principals, senior leadership, parents, agencies, facilities, districts, and Georgia Department of Education.
· Provide updates to YHALE’s Board of Education as requested.
· Allocate and assign equitable FTE distribution for special education programs.
· Supervise, evaluate, and lead a team to support effective implementation of special education programming.
· Oversee reporting and compliance, including preparation and submission of all reports and data for federal, state, and school monitoring of special education.
· Analyze budgets, revenue, expenditures, adjustments, and grants in collaboration with Federal Programs and school leadership.
· Oversight of state and federal compliance related to the IDEA rules.
· Supervise all activities related to Medicaid claiming and reimbursement, including annual training, budgeting, billing, and cost reconciliation.
- Adheres to Federal and GaDOE guidelines for serving IEP eligible students.
- Protects the confidentiality of student information.
- Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent.
- Works with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student’s educational program.
- Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction.
- Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited university required; Master’s preferred
· Certification/Licensure: Valid Georgia Teaching Certification in Special Education required
· 5+ years of experience serving in the field of special education

· Written communication skills including editing and publications.
· Public speaking, large and small group facilitation skills.

· Ability to maintain honesty and integrity in all aspects of the job.
· Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies and building and department procedures.
· Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.

· Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance requirements, including regular and punctual employee presence.
· Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Candidates are regularly required to speak and listen. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Special Requirements:
Required to attend school meetings, programs and other school related activities outside the instructional day.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
