The Senior Flavor Chemist position is responsible for the independent and industry-leading concept-to-commercialization execution of new flavor development. This role requires both technical and creative expertise in the field of flavor creation as well as a deep knowledge of functional partners such as regulatory, quality, operations, procurement, sales, innovation. This role requires strong, effective, and highly collaborative interactions within R&D and with key cross-functional partners such as Sales, Business Development, and Marketing to enable and accelerate business solutions. Manage and skillfully deliver highly complex flavor creation projects against competing priorities and timelines.

Provide mentorship and guidance to trainees, technicians, and junior staff around technical acumen and leadership behaviors.

Serve as a key customer-facing representative for Synergy for external and internal customer interactions.

Seek global visibility around Synergy’s global strategic platforms and communities of practice.

Participate in and enable effective execution of the Synergy US Flavor Chemist Trainee program. Act as mentor to junior flavorists.

Lead novel innovation projects and programs in addition to executing customer-based projects with excellence

Provide technical support to the Sales team on site, at shows, product demonstrations, events, customer visits, technical presentations, expos or as needed.

Supports the process of identification, assessment and development of new/novel technologies and process improvements.

Build strong peer relationships in order to effectively leverage other technical functions (sensory, analytical chemistry, research) towards positive results.

Available for periodic travel up to 10% of the time.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Certified by the Society of Flavor Chemists

Minimum 10 years of experience relevant to flavor development

Broad and deep exposure to quality, regulatory, manufacturing, and procurement/raw materials standards, processes, procedures, external vendors, and industry associations

Expert ability to develop targeted application considering all aspects involved and required (cost, restrictions, functionality, etc.)
