Senior Controls Field Technicians at CLX Engineering work with our customers delivering exceptional service. This is an exempt salaried position combining strong to excellent technical troubleshooting skills working with programmable logic control, especially Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLCs, with leadership, project management, and customer relationship responsibilities. Individuals who cannot troubleshoot and edit PLC code will not be successful in this position.
Reporting directly to the Director, Project Management and matrixed to the Manager, Controls Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth completion of our project at the San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport.
- This is not an entry level position.

- Candidates must be able to work both day and middle of the night work shifts.
- Occasional travel to the Sanford, FL office or airport site may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and lead communication and status updates with customers, Project Management, and Controls staff.
- Oversee projects from start to finish, facilitating coordination without taking direct responsibility for technical requirements, which are managed jointly with Integration Engineers, while also assigning tasks to other Controls Field Technicians.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with both external clients and internal teams.
- Utilize extensive knowledge of control systems to troubleshoot issues and perform basic PLC programming when necessary.
- Read electrical schematics, produce electrical prints, and create control panels with efficiency and precision.
- Drive efficiency by providing and executing innovative ideas for control system improvement.
- Ensure safety practices are always adhered to, including the use of appropriate PPE and awareness of situational dangers.
- Utilize a range of hand and powered tools, as well as electrical testing devices, proficiently.
- Demonstrate competence in using common computer software, as well as professional software such as AutoCAD and PLC programming software for troubleshooting.
Required & Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or AS Degree with equivalent, applied experience.
- Extensive experience troubleshooting and editing PLC systems, with a proven ability to work independently and lead a team effectively.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a customer-centric approach.
- Comfortable working in diverse environments, including airports, entertainment or manufacturing spaces, and internal panel shops.
- Adaptable to high-pressure situations, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.
- When not working at home, the position works in areas not accessible to the public near baggage handling system conveyors and mechanical and electrical equipment that supports them. It may be hot or cold and may require hours of standing or walking. It will also require the ability to climb ladders and tall steps depending on what is required to fix and or oversee parts of the project. Safety vests and hard hats are required in most locations.
