SUMMARY
The Regional Safety Manager is a field-based position responsible for overseeing safety initiatives and compliance for the designated region. This role involves implementing safety programs, conducting audits, providing training, and promoting a culture of safety. The Regional Safety Manager collaborates closely with site managers, employees, contractors and corporate safety teams to ensure adherence to safety regulations, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform the job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Assist Safety Director in preparing, revising and updating safety policies and procedures.
Ensures that federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed, recorded, and reported as required.
Ensures that OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met.
Perform terminal safety/compliance inspections to evaluate compliance with OSHA, EPA, FMCSA, NFPA regulations and Company policies. Work with operations, maintenance and other departments to assist in implementing corrective actions if needed.
Assist with investigations of safety incidents and accidents to determine root causes and develop corrective action measures.
Be on call to handle accidents, coordinate emergency response, and communicate with Corporate Safety and Operations Teams.
Assists in risk management responsibilities as assigned by the Safety Director.
Conducts quarterly safety meetings.
Performs other related duties as required by Senior Management.
Coach and hold accountable employees and contractors for safety compliance.
Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Extensive knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, EPA, OSHA regulations.
Knowledge of Responsible Care is preferred but not required.
Good organizational skills and leadership ability.
Proficient in using computer software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Excellent people skills.
Must be able leverage critical thinking to ensure regulatory compliance.
Must have the availability to travel by car, airplane and other means to locations anywhere in the United States when needed. Must travel up to 40% of the time.
Must be able to follow Service Transport policies and guidelines in regard to acceptable conduct when dealing with fellow managers, employees, and vendors.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or similar degree field or relevant chemical transportation related experience with a high school diploma.
Experience with DOT Regulations and transportation safety administration a plus.
