Perform fabrication, maintenance and repair of rig structural components as directed. Implement and uphold safety and environmental compliance requirements. Perform general housekeeping duties and material preservation of the welding area and all associated equipment. Assists with routine maintenance and repair of rig equipment and structural components to meet operational requirements as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience as a Welder / Fitter
- Pass welding certification as per Noble requirement
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Carry out welding, cutting, burning and associated activities as directed.
- Ensure that incomplete repairs and projects are finished within their scheduled time of completion in order to keep a backlog of work to a minimum.
- Maintain good two-way communication with crew members.
- Participate in the development of newly appointed team members.
- Participate in company approved and recommended training as required both on and offshore.
- Regulatory compliance related to function.
- Assist team in maintenance of equipment as required.
- Ensure safe and efficient operations on equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Noble’s HSE Management System thus allowing for safe, efficient operations.
- Must complete orientation process and be familiar with all company safety policies and procedures as outlined in the safety handbook.
- Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Rig Manager, Rig Maintenance Supervisor or Barge Engineer.
- Ensure the welder’s table and area are kept clean and all equipment is properly stowed.
- Attend and participate in pre-tour, post tour and special operations and weekly safety meetings.
- Ensure all operations are proceeding in a safe manner, and responsible for correcting or notifying responsible persons of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
- Check, service and maintain welding equipment in a safe, working condition.
- Report all items to the Rig Manager, Rig Maintenance Supervisor or Barge Engineer that are in need of repair or to be built.
- Coordinate with supervision daily work schedule and establish priorities.
- Coordinate with supervision the ordering of welding equipment and supplies to ensure no lost time due to shortages.
- Report to the Rig Manager, Rig Maintenance Supervisor or Barge Engineer complete details of all work performed for third parties to ensure proper charges.
- Maintain clean and safe working area and ensure all oxygen and acetylene bottles are secured on deck at all times.
- Instruct helpers in the proper use of tools and safety equipment and procedures.
- Coordinate all work with rig supervisors.
