Food & Beverage Operations Manager -Salaried Exempt
The Lakefront, Anchorage hotel (formerly the Millennium Hotel) is recruiting for a mid level salaried exempt, (not subject to overtime) Food & Beverage Operations Manager to join our team. At the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel, we strive to deliver a memorable experience for our guests. The role of the Food & Beverage Operations Manager is to responsible for directing the food & beverage outlets in the day-to-day operations while maintaining quality standards to exceed the expectations of our guests.
Typical duties of the Food & Beverage Operations Manager include:
- Supervise the day-to-day function of all Food and Beverage Outlet employees, facilities, sales and costs.
- Assist in ensuring that restaurant complies with sanitation and safety standards for guests and associates. Check that all equipment is in working order. Visually inspect and take action to ensure that facilities in restaurant look appealing and attractive to guests. Follow-up on work orders so repairs and maintenance of facility are completed on a timely basis.
- Monitor product quality and guest satisfaction in restaurant. Ensure that food quality is consistent, appealing, and prepared to guest specifications. Interact with guests to obtain feedback on quality of service and food in outlet.
- Manage challenging customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance.
- Assist in the continual training of all staff members.
- Establishes and maintains effective labor and employee relations.
- Ensures that all service standards are met consistently.
- Manages all Food and Beverage outlets.
- Develop and maintain consistent standards for presentation and service.
- Coordinate delivery of all amenity items.
- Ensures corrective action is completed and delivered to the associates.
- Table touching by greeting guests periodically.
- Ensures uniform standards are consistently maintained.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and repaired as needed.
- Enforces all liquor laws and provides education.
- Upholds all health and safety requirements.
The successful applicant will:
- One to three years' experience as a manager or assistant manager of restaurant operations.
- Current food handlers' card and Taps card
- Must be able to remain professional in all guests or employee interactions
- Must have problem solving skills thinking out of the box to resolve customer complaints lessening the financial impact on the food and beverage department.
- Work as a valuable member of the team by resolving conflicts without blame.
- Must be flexible, adaptable and dependable based on the needs of the hotel.
- A basic understanding of a POS system.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Patience, tact and diplomacy.
- Requires lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Is this needed no mention in job description of lifting/carrying.
- Work as a productive team member by contributing positive energy.
- Perform the duties of the position in a safe manner.
- Be professional and respectful in all interactions with guests and associates.
- Effective labor management to minimize overtime and ensure appropriate staff assignment to guest traffic flow.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and leaders to complete property/corporate initiatives and effective day-to-day operations.
- Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities in a demanding work environment.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and carry out complex instructions, correspondence and memos.
