Position Title: Staff Engineer – Structural

We are seeking a Staff Engineer to participate in technical engineering work on a large range of project types to assure that project goals are met, deliverables are developed in accordance with appropriate codes and within budget and schedule, and quality control objectives are achieved. The successful candidate is dedicated to client-centered service, be a naturally organized person, and works well with others in our highly collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structures is strongly preferred.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE Civil: Structural) license registered in New York or New Jersey or ability to obtain license within 6 months of hire is required.
- At least 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working on the structural analysis and design of technically challenging residential, commercial, institutional building and/or specialty projects.
- Knowledge of and experience with the latest design codes and agency standards such as IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS, AWS, and AISI.
- Familiarity with CSI (e.g., SAP2000, SAFE, ETABS, etc.) and Bentley (e.g., RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, RAM SBEAM Virtuoso, etc.) suite of structural analysis and design software.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively develop drawings/models utilizing AutoCAD and Revit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work under the direction of senior staff on engineering design, structural analysis, and construction administration for new and existing structures.
- With technical oversight, produce engineering drawings and details from conception to final design, according to established standards and procedures.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate concepts and ideas with clients and reviewing agencies.
- Ability to solve problems using sound engineering judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments within specified timeline and budget.
- Takes initiative on tasks and coordinates with other members of the design team.
- Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various structures.
- Capable of sustaining collaborative working relationships with current and potential clients through regular communication.
- Maintain high levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.
