The Dental Insurance Benefits Coordinator works with insurance companies to verify patients’ benefits, calculates, and collects patients’ outstanding payments. The coordinator should achieve excellent customer service and share a professional relationship with insurance companies to ensure success in balancing benefits with insurance payments.
Duties and Responsibilities

Verify and determine insurance history and eligibility, coverage benefits, and pre‐authorizations.

Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) with the patient’s insurance in the contract fee schedule.

Explain insurance benefits to patients.

Organize and present payment schedules.

Enter data using dental practice management software.

Generate reports for all activities.

Follow up delinquent payments, overdue accounts, and non-paid insurance claims.

Process patient and insurance payments and refunds.

Upload completed insurance verification forms.

Monitor weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to confirm payment from clients and insurance companies.

Contact patients post-visit to gauge patient satisfaction.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Education / Licenses

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

High school diploma, GED, or related.

Minimum of 2 years' experience in a dentist office environment.

Excellent communication skills.

Proficient with data entry.

Experience in dental practice management software.

Microsoft Office experience (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).

Knowledge of dental procedures and insurance billing codes.
