Fire Department
The Brattleboro Fire Dept. is accepting applications for a full-time Firefighter. Responsible for performing fire suppression, emergency medical, hazardous material, technical rescue, training, and fire prevention activities and in the maintenance and operation of department apparatus and equipment.
- Applicants must hold a valid Firefighter I certification.
- Must hold a current Vermont recognized Emergency Medical Responder certification.
- Must hold a valid CPAT qualification within 1 year of employment.
- Applicant must be able to pass a thorough state and national criminal background checks, adult & child abuse registries, Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-3 (MMPI-3) screening, medical examination, drug test and not be listed on the Office of Inspector General (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE), to meet the minimum requirements.
Residency requirements: as per contract within 1 year of employment: All Brattleboro Fire Department employees shall, for the duration of their employment with the Town, be required to have their place of abode in Brattleboro, or in a location 60 minute radius from Central Fire Station, 103 Elliot St, as calculated and displayed by Google Maps.
· Work Schedule: Shift: 8:00 am - 24 hours
- On-duty for twenty-four (24) continuous hours 1 day
- Off-duty for forty-eight (48) continuous hours 2 days
Compensation: FY 2025 per current collective bargaining agreement.
Firefighter/EMT starting at $54,559.44, Including certification incentives.
Firefighter/AEMT starting at $56,168.84, Including certification incentives.
Firefighter/Paramedic starting at $59,353.84, Including certification incentives.
