POSITION OVERVIEW:
The SUD Counselor is responsible for conducting intakes/assessments and providing individual, group, and family counseling, psychoeducation, case management, and other Community services to adults, youth, and their families experiencing a substance use disorder. This position will report to the Program Supervisor. The Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC) provides services to clients who meet criteria for services under the CCBHC model. Nine Core Services are offered either directly or through formal partnerships: Crisis Services, Screening, Assessment, and Diagnosis, Person-Centered and Family-Centered Treatment Planning, Outpatient Mental Health and Substance Use Services, Primary Care Screening and Monitoring, Targeted Case Management Services, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services, Peer Supports and Family/Caregiver Supports, Community Care for Uniformed Service Members and Veterans. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial intake and assessments;
- Formulate treatment plans for clients;
- Conduct individual, group, and family counseling sessions;
- Provide assessment and appropriate referrals to clients for educational, training, and other supportive services as needed;
- Should service 5-10 clients per week- this is subject to change dependent on program needs
- Maintain all client files per agency standards;
- Represent clients and advocate on their behalf
- Maintain and submit all program documentation and reports in an accurate and timely manner per agency standards;
- Actively identify and engage new clients by developing relationships with referral sources and guiding/implementing grassroots outreach strategies;
- Develop community resources for clients and family members;
- Provide assessment and appropriate referrals to clients for educational, training, and other supportive services as needed;
- Attend collaborative meetings with other agencies;
- Plan, develop and implement educational, social and recreational activities for clients;
- Facilitate the recreational activities/workshops for client’s/community members;
- Develop and complete compliance reports or performance reports as assigned;
- Participate in all agency activities, meetings, training, events, etc.;
- Participate in Recovery Incentives as assigned by the Program Supervisor.

- Attend trainings and participate in events relevant to key responsibilities
- Track and regularly report on key metrics for responsible function areas
- Leads and collaborate on special projects related to agency objectives as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- *REQUIRED Drug and Alcohol Certification (must be either a "CADC" from CCAPP, or "CATC" from CAADE, please list this designation and number clearly after candidate name on resume/C.V.)
- Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred;
- Knowledge of alcohol and drug prevention and recovery/treatment programs and principles;
- Knowledge of the effects of alcohol and drug abuse;
- Knowledge of and sensitive to the needs of the Latino and African American Community;
- Non-Profit and Community Based Organization experience highly desirable.
- Demonstrates and models excellent “customer service” orientation, especially in the ability to interact with people at all levels within and outside the agency.
- Thinks independently and can make informed decisions when needed.
- Exercises extreme discretion with the ability to hold, balance and transmit public and confidential information needed by various parties.
- Proficient using MS Office products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Acquires or maintains proficiency in using Google Drive products, including Docs, Sheets, and Forms.
- Valid CA Driver’s license
- Auto insurance: Personal vehicle may be used for business related purposes; it is recommended you inform your auto insurance carrier.
