Posted: June 13, 2024 Closed: July 1, 2024Employment Opportunity: DistrictPOSITION: Network ManagerShrewsbury Public Schools is seeking a Network Manager to join our team.Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Network Manager is responsible for ensuring that the operations of the School Departments servers and communication systems are supporting the districts strategic priorities.Candidates with diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, class, and/or gender background and experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.Responsibilities include: Anticipation and identification of needs, research, testing, planning, implementing, and evaluating current and potential systems and practices in order to maximize integrity, accessibility, availability, adaptability and security of data and information systems, including networking infrastructureWork with stakeholders to assess, plan, deploy, maintain, manage and evaluate updates and upgrades to existing services as well as new products and servicesTroubleshoot, repair, and optimize network traffic flowTroubleshoot, repair, and optimize Wi-Fi network performanceTroubleshoot, repair, and optimize performance of serversManage and maintain internally-hosted servicesManage cloud-hosted service provisioningManage and maintain storage, server, and network infrastructure such as network devices, firewalls, physical and virtual servers, and cabling Manage and maintain the districts telephone systemParticipate in cross-organizational and cross-functional support teamsMaintain up-to-date storage, server, network, and application documentationMaintain up-to-date knowledge of security best practices and ensure that effective security procedures and policies are implemented and enforcedPeriodically administer penetration testing to monitor for vulnerabilities in the networkWork with the Director to ensure staff cybersecurity awarenessImplement and maintain network directories of groups, users, and devicesRemain abreast of changes in user and system software and hardware requirements. Provide tier 3 technical supportManage network printing Monitor and respond to IT security alerts and eventsMaintain working backups of all files, security, and rightsPlan for business continuity in disaster recovery scenariosInstall and configure servers, software, services, and network devicesWork with outside service and equipment vendors for installations and problem resolutionOther responsibilities as assigned by the director or superintendentQualifications: Proficiency with Mac OS X clients, server operating systems, TCP/IP networkingProficiency with firewalls, web filtering, virtual server environments, storage arrays, WLAN operations, computer and network security, *NIX, and task automation is preferredProficiency with FortiOS, Cisco IOS, and Jamf Pro is preferred.Experience operating Mac OS X clients in a Windows Server environment is preferred.Experience with managing Google Workspace Admin Console.Understanding of relational database operation and structure, including importing and exporting of data, is preferred.Experience with PowerSchool is preferred. Experience working in an educational environment is preferred.Bachelors degree preferred. Must be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks, work in a team environment, communicate clearly both orally and in writing, maintain confidential information, meet deadlines, and interact effectively with school staff, administrators, and parents.
Must also be able to work on a ladder and lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.Participation in an on-call rotation will be required.This is a full year position with a salary range of $90,000 to $110,000. On-call rotation pay would be $350 per on-call week.
