About the role:
The Assistant General Manager will support the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations. This includes staff management, customer service, financial
performance, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sushi, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Assist in managing daily restaurant operations to ensure efficiency and profitability.
- Oversee food preparation and presentation to maintain high standards of quality.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Staff Supervision and Development:
- Recruit, train, and supervise restaurant staff, including servers, chefs, and kitchen staff.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching.
- Schedule staff to ensure optimal coverage during peak hours.
Customer Service:
- Ensure a superior dining experience for all customers.
- Handle customer complaints and feedback promptly and professionally.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and retention.
Financial Management:
- Assist in managing the restaurant’s budget and financial performance.
- Monitor and control costs, including labor, food, and supplies.
- Analyze financial reports and make recommendations for improvement.
- Assist in developing and implementing marketing and promotional strategies to increase
revenue.
Inventory and Supplies:
- Manage inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
- Work with suppliers to negotiate contracts and ensure timely delivery of quality products.
- Monitor and control waste to maximize profitability.
Administrative Duties:
- Assist with administrative tasks such as payroll, scheduling, and reporting.
- Ensure all restaurant policies and procedures are followed.
- Stay updated with industry trends and implement best practices.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Assistant General Manager or similar role in the
restaurant industry. Minimum 2 years.
- Japanese cuisine knowledge is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of food and beverage trends, products, and quality.
- Knowledge of restaurant management software and POS systems.
- Understanding of financial principles and budgeting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Salary Description:
$50,000 to $60,000 base plus bonus potential
