Job Summary: The Inspector 1 is responsible for ensuring that all inspections of the products are performed and accepted to customer requirements and company standards.
Essential Functions: Follow quality processes and procedures to perform detailed inspection in receiving, in-process and final inspection to ensure products conform to customer requirements, rejecting and returning unacceptable materials Complete required documentation Perform AS9102 first article inspection and other extensive inspections per specifications Document all inspections in accordance with company procedures and processes Develop and review inspection plans Ensure quality standards are met for all components and assemblies for final acceptance Maintain parts history folders, inspection reports and prints/drawings Calibrate and document hand tools and other inspection equipment Perform visual inspection Perform hardness and electrical conductivity testing Carries out day-to-day work following the departments continuous improvement plan
Non-Essential Functions: In accordance with Company policies, promote safety by working in a safe manner at all times May perform other inspections or tests such as Proof test, Pressure test, CMM etc. Establish and maintain good standards of communication and relations with other department, such as Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Receiving, etc. Perform other duties as assigned by Management such as identification of product
Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a Final Inspector and/or Receiving Inspector in a Manufacturing environment Or at the discretion of the hiring manager
Minimum Education: High school graduate or GED required Associate degree or equivalent training in a related field preferred Or at the discretion of the hiring manager
Certifications/Licenses: Certification in Mechanical Inspection Certification in CMM Inspection Certification in Hardness and EC testing preferred
Skills & Abilities: Effectively work with mechanical and electronic inspection tools and devices Working knowledge of Geometric and Dimensional Tolerances (GD&T) Working knowledge of mylars, optical comparator, thickness gage and profilometer Knowledge of aerospace specifications, quality codes and standards Knowledge of Six Sigma preferred Able to read blueprints and schematics Must be accurate and detailed with minimum errors Able to work within specific time schedules/deadlines Basic computer skills Perform job with minimum of supervision Work within a team environment Respond with sensitivity to people of diverse perspectives Dependability, excellent attendance, ability to work overtime and other shifts
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility Work Environment: Machine shop or Inspection areas with well-lit workspace and task lighting with anti-fatigue mats
Physical Demands/ Conditions: Rarely lifts 20 lbs unassisted and push light, bulky items on a rolling cart Ability to stand on a non-fatigue mat about 75% of the working day Must be able to pass vision and color perception examination, use of safety glasses required Employee is required to be alert to detail and use caution around moving material Employee may occasionally be required to sit, balance, stoop and/or crawl While performing the duties of the job, employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, airborne particles and fumes
