Position Title: Compliance Officer
Summary:
The Compliance Officer’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the district maintains compliance with statutory requirements, meets deadlines and adheres to mandates set by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and other relevant agencies. This position oversees the implementation of the P-TECH school model at the GGA High School. This role is also responsible for adhering to school safety requirements and implementing safety programming as required by TEA and the Texas School Safety Center (TxSSc).
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct research, synthesize and report information on compliance issues and requirements to support leadership, administration and staff across the district when needed.
2. Provide reports and other documentation as requested to district administration.
3. Spread awareness of policies, procedures, rules and regulations to improve understanding and promote compliance.
4. Maintain records and reports to document and certify instances of compliance/non-compliance.
5. Work cooperatively with the high school principal to manage the P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) program.
6. Lead the implementation of the Teacher Incentive Allotment including ensuring effective data collection and management.
7. In cooperation with the Chief Operating Officer, oversee the development and implementation of required safety policies, procedures and training including behavioral threat assessment and emergency operations planning. .
8. Keep informed of district requirements by regularly monitoring TEA and ESC Region 20 email correspondence and websites as well as attendance at regularly scheduled meetings (both in-person and virtual).
9. Manage compliance with Perkins V CTE grant and ESC Region 20 Shared Services Agreement.
10. Ensure compliance with House Bill 3 requirements including Reading Academies and reporting of CCMR and Early Childhood outcomes goal progress monitoring to the board of directors. .
11. Support executive leadership in monitoring, researching and preparing applications and reports for TEA and other grants. Provide support as needed for federal grants.
12. Support the district's leadership in the development and writing of policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, social and behavioral sciences, public and human services, liberal arts/humanities or business.
- Experience in public education and/or youth-serving non-profit organizations.
- Research skills including basic data collection and analysis.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively set priorities and manage multiple, often complex, projects.
- Flexibility, diplomacy and a team player.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to deal effectively, efficiently and professionally with diverse groups of school district, state and federal agency staff and members of the community.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- US work authorization.
- Candidates must have a satisfactory outcome of a fingerprinting background check.
Preferred Requirements:
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Texas public education system and the Texas Education Agency
- An understanding of state educational accountability.
- Familiarity with dual credit programming and the P-TECH CCRSM model.
- Understanding of teacher compensation systems including the Teacher Incentive Allotment.
- Familiarity with school safety principles and strategies.
- Experience providing training and professional development to adult audiences.
Pay Rate: Commensurate with education and experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
