Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

The Position:
We are looking for a Health and Safety Manager with experience in an industrial setting that has supported changing the safety culture in their organization. As the Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and implementing organizational programs to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Job Responsibilities:
- Works with management to develop the health and safety initiatives that complement the overall mill goals.
- Works with various department groups to develop, refine, and implement these initiatives.
- Coordinates the training programs and provides or oversees key safety training to ensure regulatory training requirements are met annually.
- Develops, with operational & maintenance assistance, additional training to help employees with mill-specific issues.
- Assist with root cause problem elimination (RCPE) investigations of injuries or compliance-related events. Ensures timely reporting and appropriate action plans.
- Works with line supervision to positively influence the safety culture. Specifically interacting with personnel throughout the mill in a one-on-one manner.
- Oversees the administration of workers’ compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
- Manages the various health and safety files required for compliance. Manages and administers health and safety support for emergency management operations.

Work Environment
This job operates in a production office environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to production and maintenance elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
Physical Demands
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Vision abilities required to perform this job include close vision.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, Exempt position. Normal work schedule is Monday-Friday dayshift with overtime as needed and some weekends and evening on-call duties.
Minimum Requirements:
5 years of Safety leadership experience in an industrial setting. Knowledge of all applicable state and federal health and safety laws specific to Kraft Pulp Mills.
Preferred Education:
BA degree in Business, related Safety field, or equivalent. Safety accreditation in lieu of degree.
Employment Terms
- Full time, Exempt position, On-Call and Weekends as needed.
- Salary range: $110,000-$135,000 DOE.

- 2 weeks paid vacation or more depending on position.
- Full-time employees receive 160 hours of sick leave upon hire then earn eight hours of sick leave per month.
- 9 paid holidays and one paid personal holiday per calendar year.
